LUCENT ABYSS

Her beauty shone brighter than a million suns,
camouflaging the dark ugliness of her mind.
Hurtful words expelled like bullets of sentry guns,
before friends and foe am I severely maligned.

I welcomed her into my summer-warm embrace,
yet she set a bouquet of thorns in my bossom.
Her lips served as her spiked mace,
allowing her concealed nature to blossom.

Filled with awe at such severe damage,
I retired my emotions for this wench.
My forgiving eyes eclipsed by a merciless rage,
and my essence reeked of a loathly stench.

I couldn't pick the pieces of her crumbling heart,
for even mine had been so viciously torn apart.
