THE BIRTHDAY

Joy filleth my heart from the sight of my lady,
she approached me boquet in hand like a bride,
Happiness consumed my soul and caused me to levitate,
and snap my neck to kiss her rose red lips,
This feels a most impossible feat,
but I am intoxicated by cupid's wine.

JOHN

John was a boy who believed in loyalty,
And as such a disciple of cupid,
Only to find the world’s moral foundation faulty,
Surrounded by this madness was he no longer lucid.

He once loved a woman so dearly,
One whom he devoted time and attention,
Yet she hurt him so severely,
As she fooled him with utter pretension.

A voice says find what makes you strong,
Then find what makes you weak,
In his head this became a song,
And pecked his soul like an eagle’s beak.

A new man for a new dawn,
I know this for I am John.

BRUT

A scent so strong it stabs my heart,
and so effortlessly rips my nostrils apart.

All to smell good for that beautiful lass,
the one with such unbearable sass.

THE NEW YEAR GIFT

This trouble all started with Jona’s New Year gift.

The news came as a big shock.

There is bloodshed in the land.

And food? There is no money to buy it.

No fuel to power our generators;

Our houses become like incinerators.

There is no money for feeding.

How exactly are these people leading?

We cry, cry and cry.

They? On their king-sized beds they lie.

Out of hunger we become so lean,

While they eat the best food.

We can’t even afford a common bean,

But they are always in a jolly good mood.

While we commit suicide,

They go about spraying money like insecticide.

When will this vanity stop?

Time will tell…

LATERAL THINKING

I know many women want me,
but rather than disappoint all,
I'd rather disappoint all.

OUR BORROWED LIVES

Millions of your veterans are homeless,
And this number quickly rises
every time you send a fresh batch of men to Iraq.
They lose their families,
For us to sustain ours.
They live in eternal fear,
For us to sleep with peaceful minds.
They become inhabitants of the luxurious sidewalks,
For us to live in wretched duplexes.

MOTHER EARTH

You shave her green hair and leave her bald,
You suffocate her with your carbon emissions,
Upon her scalp do you leave a scald,
And continue to inflict her with unfavourable conditions.
All the smoke from your factories blind her beautiful blue eyes,
You make impure her blood with oil spillage,
With these words of mine you all do I chastise,
In guise you claim to save but destroy her image.
With pesticides do you poison her skin through its pores,
And render animals homeless,
You destroy parts of her face with wars,
And leave her skin loamless.
From all your evils does she suffer dearth,
As you continuously kill mother earth.

RATIONALE & IMPULSE (CONVERSATION/DIALOGUE POEM)

Flee while you have the chance
Come on give her breasts a second glance

Leave now for you could get her pregnant
Missing this opportunity would leave me indignant

After today forever will your soul feel shallow
Don't think about it for you'll be fine tomorrow

To his words I plead do not succumb
If you listen to him over me you must be dumb

Please do not be felled by your flesh
Plead not for I have him in my mesh

After laying with her this girl do you intend to marry?
Forget that and do what you want then flee

I am saddened for he is named Victor
I rejoice for he is named Loser

RED POOL (IMAGIST POEM)

I lay lifeless on the ground
Staring at the great blue sky
Covered in white cotton balls like a bruised knee
I seemed to be caught up in a war between the earth and a pool
I mustered strength and raised my right arm
My black hands are covered in red liquid
which become droplets on my elbow and fall to the ground as would rain
And I wondered to myself
Never have I seen a red pool

VINES OF COUNSEL

I stretch forth my vines,
To warn them of impending danger,
But their infant minds,
Ignorant they trod into the witches manger.
But greed filled their stomachs and clouded their eyes,
And the end of every greedy man is that he dies.

HANSEL AND GRETEL

Oh what a yummy house this is,
This buffet of sweets did take away our fear,
Gnawing on the chocolate door with utter ease,
Little did we know danger drew near.

BLEEDING HEART

Not for a day did I love you she said,
Meaning she only pretended she cared,
These words did burst open my heart,
And my arteries left ripped apart,
Like a door forever my emotions are locked,
Never to be opened even when loudly knocked,
My eyes are heavy filled with tears which stubbornly refuse to fall.
